Virus in the News

Post by admin »

There has been a lot of press about various computer virus recently, and quite a bit of scaremongering

The main ones only affects HTTPS servers.

The only passwords customers use on any of our sites are to access this Customer Forums, which do not use HTTPS. If you use the same password in lots of places it may be worth changing it, but only because it may have been compromised elsewhere

The only HTTPS Server our sites use are for the Shopping Basket Card Details pages and they are hosted by Mals Ecommerce. The only password affected is the one we use to contact their servers to get customers details. We have had the following information from Mals Ecommerce.

"All the servers were patched very early on Tuesday morning [8th April 2014], within hours of the issue first coming to light. I have seen no evidence of any activity that should concern users and consider it extraordinarily unlikely that I ever will."

If you are concerned about these virus, most of which have been around for a couple of years, please be careful not to be taken in by phishers and scam artists which will probably try to take advantage of public concern.

You should avoid responding to emailed invitations to reset your password. Always go to the companies website by typing in the URL and not using any link they give you in an email.

Never, ever email your personal details as that is not secure.

We hope this will put your mind at rest - if you need any more information please post, email or PM me.
