Royal Mail only put their prices up in April so we were really surprised to get an email from them to say the prices are going up AGAIN at the beginning of October.
Not only are they putting up our main prices by 19p they are also adding TWO new "surcharges".
The first is a 2.5p "Green Surcharge" on all items to "contribute towards funding decarbonisation measures in our network" according to Royal Mail. As far as we can tell this is only for business customers.
The second is a targeted "Peak Surcharge" of 12p during the Xmas time because Royal Mail say they "scale-up our network at additional cost". This again appears to only be for business customers and will run from 20th November 2023 to 7th January 2024 inclusive.
We have been checking if we can absorb all the above and unfortunately we really can't. Postage works out at almost 20% of our takings per day already so we will have to reluctantly put up the prices again in October.
However we are NOT putting up the prices for the "Peak Surcharge" as we really do not think that is fair of Royal Mail to do. Surely the extra income from more parcels pays for the extra staff so we are going to try to absorb this temporary stealth price rise.
Our increase does not cover the full price of the Royal Mail rises but we always want to give customers the best price we can so will absorb as much as we can.
The P+P price will rise from £3.60 to £3.80. The Free P+P for orders over £40 will not change.
To make sure your order will be at the existing prices please order before 12.30pm on Friday 29th September 2023.
We are sorry we have had to do this, we will always try to keep prices as low as we can.
You can find more info behind our P+P costs on our CPU Enterprises Blog - pp-pricing.
