BROTHER KNITTING MACHINE
BROTHER KNITTING MACHINE
Does anyone know where I can get instructions for the Brother Knitting machine KX 390 , preferably free or a copy off someone, who is kind enough to share? I was given the machine but it had no instructions. I have tried copying the set up I follow for my old Knitting machine (a Bond), but the stitches keep coming off, so clearly I am doing something wrong. Thanks very much for reading this, and for any anticipated help.

Hi Janet,
oh that would be brilliant if you find them. But please don't worry if you can't, you tried, that's all that matters. The Brother seems a better model than the Bond, and although I like the Bond (being my first time on a knitting machine) I was hoping to use the Brother as well.
Looking forward to hearing from you, thanks again.

Hi Siggy7
Good news all round.
I have found my instruction book. It is an A4 book with 68 pages and I do not want to part with it but I am prepared to photocopy small sections of it if you think that will help. If you tell me what you need for example the setting up of the machine.
I have also found on the ebay shops site a shop selling a DVD of the instructional video for the KX390 for £7.99. That might be a good way to go. The shop is Joans Knitting Machine Nook on ebay shops. Take a look and let me know what you want to do.
As I say I can send you some photocopied pages if you want to do that if you PM me your address.

Hi Janet, that's brilliant! Thanks very much for looking. I don't expect you to part with it at all!
I would like copies of the main bits if that's ok - setting up, what the different positions on the carriage are for, as well inc, dec as I'm not sure if these will be the same as in the Bond knitting machine, which I have. Do you have any basic patterns, as I do for the Bond, in my booklet. Again, I'm not sure if they are interchangeable. Is it possible for you to scan them and send by email? I would like to try if that's ok with you. I could also send you a pattern for the Bond, to see if they are similar, because if so, then I wouldn't need any patterns. I managed to follow the instruction for the Bond ok, so should be fine following written instructions for the Brother.
Thanks again. You're a star!

Hi Siggy7
I don't have a scanner so it will have to be photocopies. I think you need about 14 pages to cover all the basics. There are 3 patterns (lady's crew neck and v neck sweaters and lady's v neck cardigan) but that will be a lot of photocopying. (It is 10p a page at my library).
If you can email me your Bond pattern I can see if it is worth it.
